Project Hope Winners Announced
First national contest draws inspiring messages of hope
New Rochelle, NY, May 9, 2010 — Daniel Credeur wrote about losing his mother to cancer and how the painful experience drew him closer to God. Robert Benoit composed and performed and inspiring piece of music, “Finding Hope,” on the French horn. And Michael Diaz, Miguel Ramos and David Leal, produced an original film about discovering hope in the symbol of the Holy Cross.
These are just a few of the winning submissions created by Holy Cross students in the first national Project Hope contest presented by The Brothers of Holy Cross. The contest was designed to engage Holy Cross students in the Brothers’ mission of “Bringing Hope to Others.” Students were encouraged to express their ideas on hope and to utilize their gifts and talents to express these ideas in many mediums including writing, art, film and music.
“We are very encouraged by the response to Project Hope and the very creative ways students expressed their faith and hope in God,” said Bro. Jonathan Beebe, C.S.C., Vocation Director for The Brothers of Holy Cross. The contest drew more than 100 participants and the Brothers expect to make Project Hope an annual event. “Clearly, our students have a lot to say about the challenges and difficulties they’ve encountered in their own lives as well as the issues and problems facing society. They’ve all done a wonderful job and we can all take inspiration from their messages of hope.”
